& the underlying technologies
Internet and
network is the same thing. This week, I learned about the history & the
underlying technologies. I don’t really understand about this topic. Even
before this I already learned about this, but I still can understand. But, I will tried!
Internet, no one can owns it and it has no management organization. We also can
touch it and we can’t see it. But, we can know if we have it. Usually, we use
internet for send e-mail, upload and download anything that we like, read
newspaper online and also surfing the internet. We can open social networking, YouTube,
blog and anything if we have internet. We also can connect with everyone around the
world. But, internet also has underlying. Physical, data link, network,
transport, session, presentation and application all this, examples for layer.
If we open pages or web in internet, We can see above, that must have URL. That because is assigned
address on the internet for each computer. For internet provider, there have
companies with access to the internet. Examples for provider are maxis, telecom,
digi and so on. HTML and HTTP also part of the internet. And we also always
having problem like troubleshooting internet connection, this happened when
connection too slow. This happened because they try to power-cycle the router
and modem. So, even I write this, I only understand a little bit from what Mr. Azam
teaches us. That because something it really hard for me to understand about
IT.

Micrososft
Presentation skills : power point basic
I week also
we still learned about Microsoft. But, this time, we learned about Microsoft power
point. Power point really different with Microsoft word and excel because, from
power point, we can make video and also make slide for presentation. If we want
our presentation flowing smooth, using power point can make people understand
what we are going to say. This Microsoft, still same with word and excel from
changes fonts, colour, and all said before this. But, the special from power
point is, we can place holder, slide layout, add text box, copy and paste another
slide, view our outline for presentation and adding notes to slides. Each slide,
we can put animation, put transition and apply a theme that we like. In power
point also we can put video, clip art, music and picture from folder inside our
computer. We can put sound each slide if we want, and also creating word art
and shape it. Moreover, we can edit our picture and put animation and objects
for out text. So, I think..I also understand this topic because; I also know
how to use it.

skills : Excel basic
Just
like last week, this week we still learned how to use Microsoft. But, if last
time we learned how to used word, this time we learn how to use excel.
Different with word, excel more with basic cells and cell content. Usually,
people use this for calculate, analyze and organize data. Because excel have columns, rows
and also merge cell. We can change, delete and merge cell from columns
and rows that we make. Same with word, we can change fonts, colour, layout and
border, create a table, chart and changes size fonts. Not only that from excel,
we can make spark and pivot tables and track changes. So, excel also not a big
problem for me to understand and use it!

Word processing skills
This topic I think not really
difficult to understand, because all people already know how to use Microsoft
word. They were many type of Microsoft, but normally many people use word in
daily life. From this topic, they tried to teach us how to use Microsoft word.
How to make fonts bigger, smaller and colorful, how to put picture, video,
sound and music, clipart, and etc. They
also tell us how to design word using word art. How to put table , setting page
layout, how to make references from Microsoft and put header and footer. We
also can make our fonts bold, italic and also normal. I think I don’t to tell
more about this topic, because right now I also using it. :)

Network
Basic networking concepts
This
week, we will learn about basic of networking. To get connection or network the
first thing that we should have is computer. That why people call that as a
computer network. With networking we can share resources and information and
also can promote communication and collaboration. Topology, protocol and architecture is functions of networking
that can be seen today. Just like Mr. Azam said, if we want communicate we must
have centre or MEDIUM between sender and
receiver. That why communication
is one of the important things for nowadays, because computer and networking as
a centre for people. For data transmission, bandwidth,
analog and digital (type of signal) and serial and parallel (order of bits) is examples for that.
Medium also can be as physical cable. Because twisted-pair cable, coaxial cable, fiber-optic cable and ISDN
line are cable can connect from
sender and receiver. ISDN line we can see it every day because it is special
digital telephone that transmits and receives information from our house. And for
microwave and satellite systems and also cellular and infrared technology known
as wireless media.
Next
is example for network that we used today. There are many examples, Local Area network (LAN) – intranet & entranet, Metropolitan area network (MAN) this between campus and campus and Wide area network (WAN) this network used for network between broad area. Peer-to-peer
networking and server-based networks is connection between software and another
software like computer, printer and so on. So, even tough, I don’t really
understand what I understand from this topic, at least I tries to understand
that :)

Operating
system, drivers, system
software & application programs
As all you know,
that software is another type can be found in computer beside hardware. Software is the intangible part of a computer.
They are computer
programs related together with data. System and application software and programming
language also known as programmer can divide as categories of software. GUI or command-line
interfaces is application program inside computers. Operating systems and
utility programs can categories as system software. Access control, multiple users and multiple requests
for the same resource can be application for operating system. Utility programs
just like filer or programs to manage, search, install/uninstall, view, backup
and etc. And also Disk like burn and
format.
Low and High-
level language is types of programmer language. Low-level is machine-dependent language, and
single machine instruction and High-level is independent machine, can represent
several machine and more user-friendly. Low level can be device into two types.
There are machine and assembly language. Lastly, higher level language can divide into three types like
third, fourth and fifth
generation language. This more powerful than
assembly.
Next is,
application software. Personal, workgroup, interprise, business, graphic and multimedia,
education, communication is examples for that. This
topic they told us about software that can be used and found inside our PC or
Laptop.

Hardware 2
Computer History, computer architecture,
size, processing power & types of computers
This week, we learned about computer history and all I mention above.
Seriously, I really-really understand about this topic because I’ve learned
about this topic before this at the first semester with Miss Nisha. So, like
usually, about generation of the computer. From first generation to this
generation. From ENIAC, UNIVAC,
Transistor, Integrated Circuits (IC), Personal Computer (PC), until this
nanotechnology era. Computer
architecture refers to those attributes of the computer system that are visible
to a programmer and have a direct effect on the execution of a program.



Then, from processing power, speed measured in hertz (Hz) and
capacity in bytes (B). 1 byte equal with 8 bits. Embedded computers, mobile
devices, PC, midrange, mainframes and supercomputers can categories of
computers. After that, I learned about system units just like mother board,
CPU, processor, Central Processing Unit & main memory. As all you know,
main memory or storage just like Pen drive, Hard Disk, Memory card, RAM and
Rom, we can see that on CD-Rom, hard Disk or anything can categories as a
memory. But, ROM (non-volatile) much better that RAM because we can lose memory
from RAM (Volatile) if power is turned off. Furthermore, in this topic, input
and output also can categories as hardware. In Input there were many examples.
Just like keyboard, mouse, pointing devices, game controller, digital cameras,
voice input, and video output, and terminal, biometric and Optical scanner!
Scanner can read bar code, radio frequency identification (RFID) and magnetic
strips card readers. Meanwhile, from output display services, printers, plotter
and other output devices like audio output device, data projector and force
feedback. That what I understand from slide and what Mr. Azam teaches us.
